Akhirnya, Pancasila sebagai dasar negara RI, disahkan pada tanggal 18 Agustus 1945 oleh PPKI (Panitia Persiapan Kemerdekaan Indonesia).. Rumusannya yang sah dan benar secara terperinci tercantum dalam bagian akhir naskah Pembukaan UUD Negara RI Tahun 1945.
Ada dua fungsi Pokok Pancasila (Ruyadi, et.al.,2003:7; Wilodati, 2013) yaitu :

1.Sebagai pandangan hidup bangsa Indonesia, yang secara substansi
merupakan sistem nilai (value system) yang dipilih dan dianut karena diyakini kebenaran, kebaikan, keindahan dan manfaatnya bagi bangsa Indonesia sehingga dijadikan petunjuk atau pedoman dalam kehidupan sehari-hari.
2. Sebagai dasar negara RI, yaitu sebagai dasar moral dan dasar hukum
dalam sistem pemerintahan negara RI.
