Согласно нотификациям, за 2000 год представленным странами-членами в Секретариат ВТО, почти вся поддержка сельского хозяйства распределена между производителями сельхозтоваров стран Европейского союза (39%), США (36%) и Японии (15%). На эти страны приходится более 90% от объема субсидий всех участников ВТО, а удельный вес государственной поддержки в валовом выпуске сельского хозяйства составляет более 36% в ЕС, в Японии – почти 37% и в США 39%. Это – главные условия их конкурентоспособности на мировом рынке, обеспечивающие местным сельхозпроизводителям привилегированное положение на мировом продовольственном рынке.
