According to the notification, for the year 2000 presented by the Member States to the WTO Secretariat, almost all of support for agriculture is allocated between the producers of agricultural products in the European Union (39%), the US (36%) and Japan (15%). These countries account for over 90% of the total subsidy of all WTO members, while the share of government support in the gross output of agriculture is more than 36% in the EU, in Japan - nearly 37% and 39% in the US. This - the main conditions for their competitiveness in the global market, providing local farmers a privileged position in the global food market.
