เวลาว่างนอกเหนือจากการเข้าชั้นเรียนนั้น นักศึกษาควรตระหนักว่า เป็นดั่งโอกาสทองในการเตรียมตัวเพื่อการทำงานในอนาคต ดังนั้นจึงควรจะเก็บเกี่ยวประสบการณ์จากการทำกิจกรรมในขณะเรียนให้มากที่สุดเท่าที่จะทำได้ เพราะสิ่งนี้ถือเป็นโอกาสอันดีที่จะช่วยพัฒนาชีวิตของนักศึกษาให้ครบทุกด้าน ซึ่งเป็นการแสวงหาความรู้นอกเหนือจากตำราเรียนเพียงด้านเดียว การทำกิจกรรมต่าง ๆ จะช่วยพัฒนาทักษะในการทำงานร่วมกับผู้อื่น ทำให้นักศึกษาได้รับประสบการณ์ที่หลากหลาย ซึ่งเป็นการสร้างความได้เปรียบกว่านักศึกษาที่มุ่งเรียนเพียงอย่างเดียว ที่อาจเป็นคนเก่งที่รู้ทฤษฎีต่าง ๆ จำนวนมาก แต่ขาดความเข้าใจในทางปฏิบัติ ซึ่งเมื่อเข้าสู่โลกการทำงานอาจไม่สามารถประยุกต์ใช้ความรู้ที่ได้เรียนมาได้ให้มีประสิทธิผลที่ดี
