Bea is doing quite well. She needs to speak out more. Right now I know she pays attention, and when she speaks, I’m always impressed, but
we need more. Speaking is a way of practicing both analysis and language, and she holds back too often. Bea also needs to become more
comfortable with formal written essays. When she has time to revise, she does good work, but the timed essays seem to present more
problems for her. She becomes less assured, with less depth of analysis, but as long as she continues to improve and get acquainted with
our expectations, she’ll do fine—her thinking and interpretation and attention to detail are very promising.
