: Целью данной статьи является раскрытие наиболее важных аспектов методологической проблемы определения социальной компетентности личности. На основе системного анализа автор определяет сущность понятия «Социальная компетентность», которая представляет собой спектр интегративных категорий, включающий в себя совокупность социальных знаний, умений, навыков, способов деятельности, а также социально-значимых качеств и характеристик личности, необходимых для организации качественной продуктивной профессионально-общественной и личностной жизнедеятельности. Степень научной разработанности проблематики определяется вниманием исследователей к общим проблемам сущности феномена «социальная компетентность»; разделению и интеграции предмета психологических и социологических исследований. Научная новизна работы определена тем, что в ней предложена: авторская структура социальной компетентности и социологический инструментарий определения уровня сформированности социальных компетенций. В статье приведены некоторые результаты авторского исследования – показано ранжирование уровней сформированных социальных компетенций обу-чающихся вузов (на примере Тюменского региона).
