Seven special menu dishes were reported by postpartum women. These included: pork soup, Kang Leang (mostly cooked with a variety of vegetables, mashed fish or dry prawn), black chicken soup (chicken which has black meat and skin) and mashed shrimp. All of these meals were believed to be beneficial for breastmilk production. Three other kinds of food - pickled vegetables, pickled fruit and spicy food - were believed to affect positivity babies' health and uterus involution. Women's mothers and their partners were influential in encouraging them to consume these foods.
