ความสำคัญ 1. ได้รับการประกาศให้เป็นอุทยานแห่งชาติทางทะเลแห่งแรกของประเทศไทย

2. ห่างจากตัวเมืองสตูลประมาณ 40 กิโลเมตร

และห่างจากฝั่งที่ท่าเรือปากบารา 22 กิโลเมตร

3. ทิศเหนือจดอุทยานแห่งชาติหมู่เกาะเภตรา

ทิศใต้จดทะเลที่เป็นแนวพรมแดนระหว่างประเทศไทยและสหพันธรัฐมาเลเซีย

ขนาด 1,490 ตารางกิโลเมตร

ลักษณะ 51 เกาะ
