• Kim ngạch xuất khẩuMặt hàng TCMN của Việt Nam hiện nay có mặt trên 163 quốc gia trên thế giới với các thị trường truyền thống như Mỹ, Đài Loan, Nhật Bản… và EU được coi là một thị trường lớn đối với mặt hàng TCMN của Việt Nam. Theo phòng thương mại châu Âu tại Việt Nam, EU có nhu cầu lớn về mặt hàng TCMN. Trong những năm qua, EU nhập khối lượng lớn mặt hàng này với giá trị khoảng 7 tỷ USD/ năm. Việt Nam chỉ chiếm phần nhỏ tại thị trường EU, năm 2005 chiếm 5,4% kim ngạch nhập khẩu TCMN của EU. Việt Nam phấn đấu vào năm 2010 này, đạt 6,4% (giá trị trên 0,6 tỷ USD) kim ngạch nhập khẩu TCMN của EU. Trong những năm qua, kim ngạch xuất khẩu mặt hàng TCMN sang thị trường EU ngày càng tăng. Nhìn vào biểu đồ hình 3.2 ta thấy từ năm 2005 đến 2013, trong vòng 9 năm kim ngạch xuất khẩu mặt hàng này sang EU tăng từ 124,64 triệu USD đến 371,54 triệu USD tức là gấp 3 lần. Giai đoạn năm 2006 - 2007, Việt Nam gia nhập tổ chức thương mại thế giới (WTO), thương mại giữa Việt Nam với các quốc gia và khu vực trên thế giới nhận được nhiều ưu đãi, và mặt hàng TCMN sang EU cũng không ngoại lệ. Giai đoạn này, kim ngạch xuất khẩu tăng vọt 1,32 lần từ 250,57 triệu USD lên 331,2 triệu USD.
