the work sampling measures how candidate actually performs some of the job basic task.
there are several advantage to work sampling. Since you are measuring actual on the job task, it is harder for the applicant to fake answer. The work sample itself is more clearly relevant to the job you are recruiting for, so in terms of fair employment you may be on safer grounds. the content of the work sample ---the actual task the person must perform-- is not as likely to be unfair to minorities as is a personnel test that inadvertently emphasizes middle-class concepts and values. Work sampling does not delve into the applicant's personality of privacy. Well designed work samples also exhibit better validity than do tests designed to predict performance.
