A security update from Booking.com
Dear partner,
We would like to remind you to stay alert when it comes to your property’s security on the Internet. While Booking.com works hard to protect your data, there are also precautions that you can take to ensure the financial security of your property and your guests.
Fraudulent attacks on our partners can appear in a variety of ways, including in your e-mail inbox. A small number of partners have received phishing e-mails claiming that our payment details have changed.
These e-mails often look similar to a message that you might receive from a Booking.com staff member and may include bank details and request to transfer outstanding amounts on your invoice to a bank account not affiliated with Booking.com. The e-mails may also include a fake customer service phone number.
We would like to take this time to remind you of Booking.com’s invoicing procedures:
If our communication with you looks irregular, something might be wrong
Are you receiving e-mails that look like they are from a Booking.com staff member but mention changes to our invoicing process or payment method? Please get in touch with your local credit controller.
Extranet is the only secure place for information regarding payments to Booking.com
All invoice-related and contact information can be securely accessed via the Finance Tab on the Extranet. Always look for the padlock in your web browser’s address bar and the text "Booking.com B.V" in green in the URL bar to ensure a secure connection.
Do not trust strangers
Do not open e-mails from people that you don’t know. We will never communicate to you with an e-mail address that does not end in @booking.com. If a message has come from an e-mail address ending in @booking.com but the contents are suspicious, do not follow the instructions in the message and please report it to us.
Report all suspicious communication directly to us
If you receive a suspicious e-mail, please forward it as an attachment to report@booking.com along with your property ID and we will conduct an investigation. There is no need to contact Booking.com in order to clarify our payment procedure, as the only secure place to see our details for invoice payment is on the Extranet.
Please share this update with staff at your property.
