Hello everybody, Sawasdee Krub
I am a teacher at AUA and I agree with most things that people say here. My response to Khun Anna in particular is this -you cannot expect to develop your language in a short time like 30 hours. I think your expectations were too high! It takes a lifetime to learn a language, especially when you are not using that language for your daily life. The slow goods train always gets to its destination-maybe it's abit kike the tortoise and the hare! Also, at AUA we do not think that we can change an adult's accent, although we can heop you to make better sounds and have clearer intonation. We think that it is not good to use class time correcting pronunciation. It's much better to develop your skills by using English in communicative activities. Finally, like every school around the world, you will have excellent teachers, great teachrs, good teachers and poor teachers. AUA has changed a lot in the past few years and has a policy that only qualified teachers can work there. Also, AUA has ongoing training for its teachers. I think we have mostly great and excellent teachers, although there will always be some poor ones in teh world!
I am very happy that so many people here have had a good experience learning English at AUA. I have been teaching at AUA for 10 years, and although, like any large school, it has problems, I am proud of how it helps so many with their English (and Thai).
