เขื่อนรัชประภา เริ่มดำเนินการก่อสร้าง เมื่อวันที่ 9 กุมภาพันธ์ 2525 แล้วเสร็จในเดือนกันยายน 2530

การเดินทาง

เขื่อนรัชประภาตั้งอยู่ที่อำเภอบ้านตาขุน จังหวัดสุราษฏร์ธานี ห่างจากกรุงเทพฯ 698 กิโลเมตร การเดินทางโดยรถยนต์ใช้เส้นทางสายเพชรเกษมซึ่งมีอยู่สายเดียวมุ่งตรงสู่จังหวัดสุราษฎร์ธานี เมื่อถึงสี่แยกที่จะเข้าตัวเมืองสุราษฎร์ให้เลี้ยวขวามาตามเส้นทางหมายเลข 401 มุ่งสู่อำเภอบ้านตาขุน ขับตรงไปอีกประมาณ 67 กิโลเมตร จะมีทางแยกขวาเข้าเขื่อนรัชประภา มีป้ายเขื่อนรัชประภาบอกชัดเจน เลี้ยวขวาไปตามป้ายอีก 12 กิโลเมตร ขับตามที่ป้ายบอก จนกระทั่งถึงสันเขื่อน ก็จะถึงจุดชมวิว
