انتهت محافظة الوادي الجديد من إنشاء محطتي كهرباء تعملان بالطاقة الشمسية بمركز الفرافرة، وذلك بقدرة 5 ميجاوات للمحطة الأولى ونصف ميجاوات للمحطة الثانية في إطار خطوات المحافظة نحو استغلال نسبة سطوع الشمس في إنتاج الطاقة الكهربائية من خلال الطاقة الشمسية.
