Det var två stora allianser emot varandra. Fösta världskriget utspelade sig huvudsakligen i Europa. Alla Europeiska stormakter var med kriget och sen sprida i kriget delar av Asien och i kolonier i Afrika. Storbritannien tvinga med Afrikanerna att blir soldater också Indiens att kriget i Europa. Sedan USA kommer till kriget och det var därför kallas hela världens krig eller världskriget
