يُعتبر الزواج المبكّر من أهم أسباب المشاكل والاضطرابات النفسيّة التي تواجهها الفتاة، وذلك لأنّ زواجها في عمرٍ صغير يحرمها من أشياء كثيرة كانت ستتاح أمامها لو أنّها لم تتزوج، وأول هذه الأشياء حرمانها من أن تعيش عمرها الطبيعيّ مع قريناتها، وتتلقى التعليم المناسب، وتلعب وتضحك
وتمرح، دون أن يكون لديها مسؤوليات أكبر منها، كمسؤولية البيت والزوج، وقد تصل بها الحالة إلى الاكتئاب، والحقد على المجتمع الذي تعيش فيه.

المشكلات الصحيّة:
الزواج المبكر يسبب حصول أمراض وأعراض جسدية كثيرة، قد تكون غير معروفة بالنسبة للفتاة، كما أن حملها في سنٍ صغيرة يسبب لديها الكثير من المشكلات، كفقر الدم، واضطرابات في الرحم بسبب عدم اكتمال نموه بشكلٍ كامل، وقد تعاني من الإجهاض المتكرر. مشكلات اجتماعيّة: الفتاة التي تتزوّج في سنٍ صغيرة، في أغلب الأحيان لا تحسن التصرّف مع طفلها الصغير الذي أصبحت له أماً بشكلٍ مفاجئ، كما قد تعاني من مشكلات عديدة مع زوجها وأهل زوجها، ناتجة عن جهلها بأسلوب التعامل الصحيح معهم بسبب قلة خبرتها في الحياة.
مشكلات قانونية:
الزواج في عمر صغير، يعرّض الفتاة وأهلها والزوج لمسائلةٍ قانونيةٍ لأنّه على الأرجح لن يتم تسجيله في السجلات المدنية.
