Industrial Development
• One of the most important objectives in establishing a nuclear energy program in the UAE was to support the growth of the UAE’s economy, and specifically to support the development of a local nuclear energy industry supply chain.
• A new energy sector directly supports the nation’s economic growth and diversification strategy; delivering thousands of high-value job opportunities and building our national knowledge economy. Since its inception, ENEC has been working to support this vision.
• As the nuclear energy industry has some of the most stringent standards in the world, ENEC’s dedicated Industrial Development Team has been working alongside UAE companies to ensure they meet the strict quality and technical standards required to tender for contracts for the country’s nuclear energy program.
• ENEC works with local companies to upgrade their systems to become American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Nuclear Component certified companies, which is the key certification required to become nuclear-approved suppliers.
• ENEC has supported many UAE companies to raise their quality standards to meet the requirements of the nuclear industry, allowing Emirati companies the opportunity to contribute to the success of the ENEC program and gain a unique competitive advantage in providing nuclear-quality services and materials to the world. In this way, ENEC is not only supporting existing businesses in the UAE, but we are also facilitating the development of a local nuclear energy supply chain.
• To date, more than 1,100 UAE companies have successfully secured contracts totaling more than US $2.5 billion for a range of products and services to support the construction of the UAE’s first nuclear energy plants. Contracts with local companies have been awarded over the past three years through joint collaboration between ENEC and KEPCO.
